This is a two part workshop:
The morning presentation will explore topics of implicit bias, institutional and structural racism and health equity. Learning objectives for participants includes developing familiarity with organizational self-assessment tools, and how to implement more culturally responsive practices. This training will be facilitated by Lisa Ladendorff, LCSW, Executive Director, Northeast Oregon Network. Lisa has served as the founder and director of the NEON from its inception in 2004 to the present. She has a 20-year history of clinical practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, specializing in the dynamics of behavior change, including health behavior change, and has served as a local public health administrator for four years.The afternoon will focus on impacts of historical trauma on disparaged communities—and how connection to community and culture can heal the wounds.
The afternoon training will be facilitated by Cecil Cross, MPA, Diversity Inclusion Correctional Training Specialist and Counselor for the Oregon Department of Correction at Ontario’s Snake River Correctional Institution. In addition to duties with the Oregon Department of Correction, Cecil has provided Cultural Diversity Training for TVCC, Wells Fargo, Boise State and The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Cecil Cross works to promote dialog and create change in topics such as cultural competency. Cecil continues to seek partnerships as a community liaison to help communities transcend biases.
