Mind body Relaxation Techniques for Provider and Patient: In this session we
will learn, discuss and experience mind body techniques that can be used to
encourage relaxation in our patients and ourselves. These techniques can be
used for overall well-being as well as acute and chronic medical conditions to
promote reflection and self-awareness. Although the addition of these techniques
into your own life or into your clinical practice can feel daunting, one can
see personal benefit in even a brief relaxation practice and the techniques can
easily be taught to patients within the context of a 15-20 minute visit.
Examples of techniques that we will cover are: relaxation breathing,
progressive relaxation, mindful eating and gratitude journaling.
